Founded in 2024, Coweta Youth Running Club, also known by our team name as the Coweta Comets, hosts a variety of running programs throughout the year including Fall Cross Country, Spring Running, and Trail Running Summer Camp.
Coweta Youth Running Club is a RRCA and USATF club member. We are also a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that is run 100% by volunteer parents and coaches. All donations made are tax-deductible and support all activities throughout the club and its programs.
Spring Distance Running Program
The Spring Season is March 17, 2025 through May 17 for ages 6-13. Registration is now closed. Check back for future details regarding our summer camp and cross country season registrations later this year.
To continue developing returning athletes and properly welcome new athletes, we design our spring season to accommodate both groups accordingly.
New Athletes
Practice: new athletes will meet weekly on Mondays from 6:00-7:00pm.
Cost: $100 + $30 Annual Household Club Membership Fee
Races: Two 1 Mile events
*New athletes must be able to run 1 mile without stopping as a prerequisite. We will run at minimum 1 mile during our first practice on March 17.
Returning Athletes
Practice: returning athletes will meet weekly on Mondays with new athletes, Wednesdays, and Saturdays
Cost: $150 + $30 Annual Household Club Membership Fee
Races: Three 5k events.
All practices are led by volunteer coaches and we depend on their support. We highly encourage parents to volunteer as its an incredible opportunity to be active and have fun through the sport of running with young athletes.
Fall Cross Country
The Fall Cross Country Season begins in August and ends in December. The team races in age appropriate meets ranging from 2k to 3k on Saturdays (5-7 meets total) throughout the season.
Practice: The team practices 2-3 times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays (optional group run), and Saturdays from 6:00-7:15 PM on weekdays and 9:00-10:15 AM on non-race day Saturdays.
Location: We practice primarily at Brown’s Mill Battlefield and LINC. Other suitable practice locations within the county may be used and advance notice will be provided.
Cost: The cost of the program for 2024 was $175 per athlete. The program fee is subject to change year over year. Households new to Coweta Youth Running Club will pay an additional $30 annual club membership fee. Program and club fees cover the cost equipment, administration, race entries, volunteer training, and more.
Volunteers: If you are a runner yourself, we encourage you to consider volunteering at practice by running with athletes during our group runs. We must have a minimum number of running volunteers in order to practice. Volunteering with the team is a great way to learn, get in shape, and give back to youth in the community. All running abilities are needed and helpful.
Prerequisites: In order to register and participate with the team, athletes must be able to run 2k (1.24 miles) without stopping.
