ABOUT

Our History

Coweta Youth Running Club was founded at the beginning of 2024 and launched through a partnership with Coweta Parks and Recreation to host our first official spring season. We adopted the team name, Coweta Comets. Our desire is to provide youth in Coweta County an opportunity to be part of a running team and expand access to youth running on the south side of Atlanta.

Matt and Stephanie Moskal, club co-founders, are former board members of the Peachtree City Flash Youth Cross Country organization and bring many years of coaching experience. Stephanie Moskal served as head coach of the Flash Lite program for the junior athletes multiple years, and Matt Moskal is a certified USTAF Level 1 running coach. Brent Snodgrass, club co-founder, brings many years of experience in leadership roles with Parks & Recreation, working in partnership with dozens of sports teams and clubs, and several local boards including Bike Coweta and Friends of LINC.

Our Purpose

To provide a fun, safe and encouraging environment for young athletes to run with friends, learn about the sport of running, and stay active.

Our Values

  • Teamwork: foster camaraderie regardless of differences in ability among athletes

  • Character: develop personal integrity, kindness to others, and positive attitude

  • Courage: challenge obstacles by persevering towards goals

Our Leadership

All of our volunteers must undergo a background check and complete a SafeSport training course. The club is led by a board of directors who organize our programs, guide the direction of the organization, manage financials, coach athletes, and oversee volunteers.
